A 24-year-old soldier from Littleton has been killed in Iraq, the Pentagon said Saturday.
Army Spec. Nathan R. Beyers of Littleton died from injuries Thursday after insurgents attacked his convoy using an improvised explosive device.
The attack in Baghdad also killed 20-year-old Spec. Nicholas W. Newby.
Newby is from Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Officials say Beyers had been living in the Coeur d’Alene area before his deployment, but before that had lived in Littleton.
A third soldier, Staff Sgt. Jazon Rzepa of Idaho, suffered serious leg injuries in the attack.
The soldiers were assigned to the 116th Cavalry Heavy Brigade Combat Team, based in Post Falls, Idaho.
Idaho National Guard spokesman Col. Tim Marsano told The Associated Press that Beyers has been an Idaho resident for a number of years and that his wife, Vanessa Beyers, and daughter, born in November, live in the Coeur d’Alene area. The Denver Post
