COLORADO SPRINGS — Second-round leader Mika Miyazato has been involved in the relief efforts for victims of the March 11 earthquake and tsunami in northern Japan, and today she said she would give all her earnings to the cause.

“I decided to donate all my earnings from the major tournaments on the Japanese tour and the U.S. LPGA Tour, so whatever earnings I make from the major tournaments I will donate to the Red Cross,” Miyazato said.

Miyazato, 21, is from Okinawa, Japan. That’s also the hometown of six-time LPGA Tour winner Ai Miyazato, although they are not related.

“Miyazato is pretty common name in Okinawa,” Ai Miyazato said. “I know her since she was like 10 years old. We know each other long time.”

They will be paired together for the third round at 5:16 p.m. today.

“It’s really fun to play with her always. And especially in this tournament,” Ai Miyazato. “It’s really, really excited.”

Ai Miyazato, 26, was asked is she plans to contribute to the relief efforts.

“Oh, I don’t have a plan with that yet, because I still need to focus my game,” she replied. “So I will think about it after this tournament.”
