DENVER—Dozens of mourners waiting for orders from a longtime Denver gravestone makers are looking for answers after Watson Memorial Company abruptly closed its doors.

The company dates to 1897. But in recent weeks customers report that the business appears abandoned with CLOSED sign in the window. Mourners have added personal signs to the door. One asks, “Where’s my mom’s headstone?” A city tax revenue left a business card dated July 8.

KUSA-TV reports that according to public record, the owner is Glenn Noe, who filed for bankruptcy in 1995.

The Denver Post interviewed the sister of Andy Noe, who she is running the company. The sister says she can’t find him, either.
