French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said Paris has had contact with emissaries from Moammar Khadafy who say the embattled Libyan strongman is “prepared to leave” power. Up to now, Khadafy has refused to leave or relinquish control of Libya.
“We receive emissaries who are saying, ‘Khadafy is prepared to leave. Let’s discuss it,’ ” Juppe said, without identifying the envoys. French officials insist that Khadafy’s giving up power is key to ending hostilities that began in March.
