GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Colorado’s oil and gas industry is discounting a survey by a nonprofit group that found carcinogens and toxins at drilling sites around Durango and Garfield County.
The director of the West Slope Colorado Oil & Gas Association, David Ludlam, told the Grand Junction Daily Sentinel the sampling was unscientific and better studies are needed.
The nonprofit group Global Community Monitor says certified laboratories found benzene and other toxins in the Durango area and hydrogen sulfide at Silt Mesa in Garfield County.
