The University of Colorado picked up its third commitment from a Texas wide receiver Thursday when Peyton Williams of Southlake Carroll pledged to sign next February, according to .
The 6-foot-1, 185-pound Williams had 57 catches for 710 yards and 12 touchdowns as a junior and turned down offers from Pittsburgh, Minnesota and Wyoming, among others. He is rated a three-star recruit.
WAC adds Texas-Arlington.
The Western Athletic Conference announced Thursday it will add the University of Texas-Arlington next summer to grow to 10 teams. The Mavs will join Denver and Seattle as nonfootball members in the expanded league. Idaho, Louisiana Tech, New Mexico State, San Jose State, Texas State, Texas-San Antonio and Utah State round out the Denver-based conference.
Loveland teen makes Olympic Trials.
Mountain View High graduate Jacob Ores made the U.S. Olympic Trials’ cut in the 1,500-meter freestyle Thursday at the Los Angeles Invitational with a time of 15 minutes, 48.19 seconds. Ores, who is headed to Virginia Tech this fall, beat the qualifying time by 5 seconds and landed a berth at next year’s Trials in Omaha.
“It’s a load off my shoulders,” he told the Loveland Reporter-Herald. “It’s all I’ve been thinking and worrying about it all summer.”

The NCAA has awarded Colorado State-Pueblo the Division II wrestling championships in 2012 (March 9-10), a month after awarding the 2012 and 2013 D-II outdoor track and field championships to the school.
CGA match play moves to final.
Jonathan Marsico of Castle Pines Golf Club will face Michael Lee of Greeley CC in today’s 36-hole final of the CGA’s Match Play championship at Bear Creek. Both won two matches Thursday.
