A Grand Jury in Colorado Springs has cleared a 9-year-veteran officer involved in a shooting in April, saying the officer acted reasonably and appropriately in the use of deadly force.

The officer was identified as Nathan Jorstad, a member of the Specialized Enforcement Division of the Colorado Springs Police Department.

On the morning of April 22, officers were called to a home in the 1700 block of Auburn Drive on a report of a man shooting a gun in the backyard.

When officers arrived, they heard several shots fired. Officers saw a man holding a gun, and observed the suspect level his weapon at a home in the neighborhood.

One officer fired one shot at the suspect, hitting him in the torso.

The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he later died.

The man was identified later as 22-year-old James Guy of Colorado Springs.
