WESTMINSTER, Colo.—Westminster police are looking for a man who may have shot himself accidentally before robbing a pharmacy.
Employees of the Walgreens near 100th Avenue and Wadsworth Boulevard told police the man showed a handgun and demanded narcotic pain pills from the pharmacy Friday morning, then fled. They say he appeared to be bleeding from an abdominal wound on his right side, with blood soaking through his clothing onto the floor.
Police say the man may have shot himself accidentally while trying to hide the gun in his clothing before the robbery.
Officers say they’re concerned he may be avoiding medical treatment for fear of being arrested and may be self-medicating on the stolen narcotics. They are urging anyone who knows him to encourage him to seek medical treatment.
