Boulder police want to speak with a man who may have witnessed a sexual assault early Saturday morning in the area of 28th Street and Baseline Road.

The assault happened around 4:30 a.m. Saturday, police said. An 18-year-old Boulder woman told police she was walking by herself after going to a fast-food restaurant and finding it closed. As she was walking, she heard footsteps, was grabbed from behind and then sexually assaulted.

The victim had broken her arm several weeks ago and reinjured it in the attack. She was taken to a hospital for treatment after she went to a nearby business for help.

The victim told police a man walking by may have seen or heard part of the attack, police (Boulder police)said Monday. The witness is described as a white, blond man in his 20s. He was wearing a dark-colored t-shirt with some type of white graphic and gray sweatpants. He made a comment as he passed by.

Police said the witness may not have realized that a sexual assault was taking place.
