WILMINGTON, Del. — The Dodgers and Major League Baseball squared off in a Delaware bankruptcy court Wednesday as the team sought court approval of a $150 million financing arrangement that MLB is challenging with a financing offer of its own.

After hearing about eight hours of testimony and arguments, Judge Kevin Gross told attorneys he wanted time to think and would try to issue a ruling by tonight.

Tigers acquire infielder Betemit from Royals

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Tigers acquired infielder Wilson Betemit from the Royals for two Single-A prospects — left-hander Antonio Cruz and catcher Julio Rodriguez.

Tigers president Dave Dombrowski said Betemit will join the team today in Minnesota and will immediately replace Brandon Inge as Detroit’s everyday third baseman.

Giants catcher Buster Posey will have surgery Friday to remove screws that had stabilized the torn ligaments in his left ankle. He will take a couple of days to recover and resume his rehab work after that.
