DENVER—Six Battlement Mesa residents have filed a lawsuit alleging Antero Resources Corp.’s drilling activities are exposing them to hazardous substances and hurting their property values.

The lawsuit filed Wednesday in Denver District Court seeks class-action status on behalf of the 5,000 residents in Battlement Mesa in Garfield County.

The Post Independent reports the lawsuit seeks compensation for lost property values and the establishment of a fund to cover health monitoring and treatment for residents.

An Antero representative didn’t immediately return a phone message Thursday seeking comment. The company typically doesn’t comment on pending litigation.

Antero also is fighting a lawsuit filed in March by Beth and Bill Strudley, who allege that drilling activities near their home outside Silt contaminated their air and drinking water.
