As if slippery roads and surging fans weren’t enough for cyclists, now they have to watch out for cattle. Danish rider Martin Lind was left with a concussion and broken collarbone after crashing into cattle that had strayed onto the Brixia Tour course. Lind said he was riding downhill at nearly 40 mph in the Italian Alps and was knocked unconscious when “two cows, or bulls, just came in from the side” in Wednesday’s first stage of the three-day race. He was admitted to a hospital and released a few hours later. No word whether Lind was considering becoming a matador in the offseason.
