EMPIRE, Colo.—A gasoline spill has shut down U.S. Highway 40 over Berthoud Pass.

The Colorado Department of Transportation said a tanker truck spilled gasoline about 2 1/2 miles east of the summit on Thursday. A hazardous materials unit from the State Patrol is at the scene.

The highway is expected to remain closed for at least two hours.
