CLEVELAND — Indians outfielder Grady Sizemore underwent surgery for a sports hernia Thursday and is expected to begin rehabilitation today.
“His prognosis is good,” team trainer Lonnie Soloff said. “We are cautiously optimistic that he will return to full baseball activities in four to six weeks. He should walk as much as a mile starting (today).”
Diamondbacks recall Ransom to replace injured Drew
PHOENIX — The Diamondbacks called up infielder Cody Ransom from Triple-A Reno to replace injured shortstop Stephen Drew.
Drew broke his right ankle in Wednesday night’s game against the Brewers on a fourth-inning slide to home plate. Diamondbacks manager Kirk Gibson said Drew is out for the season and probably needs surgery.
