ASPEN, Colo.—Aspen Skiing Co. is getting a $400,000 tax cut after a state board ruled that the Pitkin County Assessor’s Office overvalued three of its major properties.
The Colorado Board of Assessment Appeals ruled that the company overpaid property taxes by more than $400,000 for the 2009 and 2010 tax years.
Pitkin County Treasurer Tom Oken tells the Aspen Times the various taxing districts won’t have to issue refunds. He says the districts will credit the overpayments to future taxes.
