AURORA, Colo.—The Aurora City Council is considering asking voters to raise property taxes or eliminate a requirement that the city hire two police officers for every 1,000 residents.
Aurora police association president Mark Finnin says the union will not support any measure that would do away with the two officers per 1,000 requirement.
City officials said the program was successful, but the recession has taken a toll and the city has had to take away funding from other departments to keep up with the mandate, according to the Denver Post.
