Dr. Carl Clark, longtime head of Denver’s community mental health center, has been named leader of the National Council for Community Behavioral Healch Care.

Clark will remain chief executive of the Mental Health Center of Denver while serving in the national leadership position.

Clark said he is “humbled and energized” to be leading the board as it tries to expand safety net services and treatment for those with mental illness.

“Healthy people contribute to economic prosperity of communiteis through increased productivity at work or at home,” he said.

The Mental Health Center of Denver is the publicly funded behavioral health system for the city and county. It is the state’s largest mental health provider.
