PUEBLO, Colo.—The battle over the federal budget could delay construction of a new runway at Pueblo Memorial Airport after three technicians were put on furlough.

The airport is building a new $12 million runway and Congress has been unable to agree on a final FAA budget.

Airport director Mark Lovin says the technicians were installing an antenna system that is crucial to the project.

Lovin tells the Pueblo Chieftain that contractors can work around the problem for three or four weeks, but if the budget deadlock goes more than that, construction may have to come to a halt until the budget dispute is resolved.
