Getting your player ready...

Highlands Ranch pitcher Ryan Burr has already ended the baseball recruiting process by committing to Arizona State. But he has one final highlight to add to his prestigious high school career.

Burr, a senior, will be one of just 40 players throughout the country to play in the Aflac All-American Baseball Classic in August. It is something that Burr has spent the past few years hoping he could be a part of.

“It was a dream come true, honestly,” Burr said. “I grew up watching it as a kid and always thought, What if that could be me someday? Hard work, great coaching, and great teammates helped me get there.”

Burr will be spending the next few weeks trying to help his Connie Mack team to a World Series championship in Farmington, New Mexico.

Pint waiting to hear back from two schools.

Valor linebacker Andrew Pint has attended summer football camps at the three college programs he is focusing his attention on.

At last count, Boise State offered him a scholarship but he is still waiting to hear what the coaches from Iowa and Wake Forest say. It should come as little surprise that the top school on his list has extended a scholarship.

“I like Boise State the most right now out of the ones that have offered,” Pint said. “I want to wait and see what happens, though.”

QuickHitters.

• Denver Christian quarterback Alex Terpstra may be a small-school athlete but that doesn’t mean he is not using the summer to showcase his skills in front of coaches at camps. “I went to UNC, CU, and then my next one is (July 30th) at CSU,” Terpstra said. “It was really good. It definitely showed me the hard work of college football. I learned a lot for those camps. I felt I did pretty good, but there are a lot of good quarterbacks. I thought I fit in with most of them.”

• Chaparral linebacker Shane Keith may not get the attention as some of his teammates but he recently landed his first scholarship offer from Chadron State, a Division II program in Nebraska. “I got a call around 9 o’clock from (head) coach (Bill) O’Boyle and he just said that he liked how I played,” Keith said. “He wanted me to come to their school and that was really cool.”

• Regis Jesuit running back Jordan Jungers was one of the most dominant rushers on the football field in 2010. Even with his dominance on their run to the Class 5A title game, he hasn’t been getting attention from many Division I programs just yet. “I’ve been getting stuff every week from CSU-Pueblo, Sioux Falls, Nebraska-Kearney, ASU, and Pacific of Oregon,” Jungers said.
