Somin Lee of HeatherRidge Golf Club never trailed Wednesday and won the 36-hole Colorado Women’s Golf Association’s Match Play Championship final at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora, defeating Brooke Collins of Omni Interlocken 3 and 1.

Pepperdine-bound Lee, the CWGA junior player of the year in 2009 and 2010 and the Class 5A champion this spring at Overland High School, was 5 up after 10 holes. But Collins squared the match after 18 holes.

The 31st and 32nd holes played big roles. Collins hit into a deep fairway bunker on the 31st and she couldn’t get up and down for par on the 32nd.

• A team representing the Colorado Golf Association finished second in the team competition of the 45th Pacific Coast Amateur at Eugene (Ore.) Country Club. Mark Hubbard of Denver, Matt Schovee of Cherry Hills Village and Michael Harrington of Colorado Springs finished three strokes behind a team representing Northern California in the 15-team Morse Cup matches with a 1-under-par 287.

• A team representing the CGA at the Junior America’s Cup tournament was tied for fourth after the first round at Hiwan Golf Club in Evergreen. Cameron Harrell of Colorado Springs led the CGA team with an even-par 70. That tied for fifth. The CGA team was nine shots behind the co-leaders, teams representing Southern California and Northern California.

Rocky Mountain State Games set to start.

Olympic figure skater Rachael Flatt, a Cheyenne Mountain High School graduate and the 2010 U.S. national champion, will light the flame to open the 10th Rocky Mountain State Games on Friday night at the World Arena in Colorado Springs. “American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks is the featured performer for the opening ceremony, which begins at 7 p.m.
