The Hollywood Reporter’s first list of the world’s best film schools puts a local name in lights: The Colorado Film School in Denver came in at number 25.
The trade publication said in a story posted online this afternoon that it compiled its list after consulting “industry insiders, execs, filmmakers and film school grads,” rating the programs based on their alumni, cost to attend, facilities, industry access and their instructors.
The listing noted the Colorado school, affiliated with Regis University, charges just $7,000 a year, and that filmmaker Douglas Trumbull — whose resume includes “2001: A Space Odyssey,” “Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” “Star Trek: The Motion Picture,” “Blade Runner” — is working to create a green-screen 3D movie studio in conjunction with the school.
The American Film Institute, the University of Southern California and the Beijing Film Academy topped the list.
