Saturday night, they got it from an unlikely source, backup catcher Eliezer Alfonzo, who cranked a grand slam down the left-field line to break the game open. Alfonzo could be getting more action soon, as catcher Chris Iannetta might be traded today.
Rogers to rescue.
Esmil Rogers thought he might end up starting the game due to the Ubaldo Jimenez trade rumors. He warmed up prepared to start. Then, strangely, Jimenez was allowed to start. He lasted one inning and gave up four runs, after which Rogers relieved him and helped the Rockies win their third consecutive game.
