PUERTO MONTT, Chile—Connecticut’s Bria Hartley scored all of her 20 points in the first half, leading the U.S. women into the gold-medal game at the under-19 world championship with an 82-66 victory over Brazil on Saturday night.
Stefanie Dolson, who also plays for UConn, added 12 points as the three-time defending champions moved in Sunday’s championship game against Spain.
Hartford coach Jennifer Rizzotti’s team opened a 17-point lead in the first half, then pulled away again in the second after Brazil got close. Tennessee freshmen-to-be Cierra Burdick and Ariel Massengale chipped in 11 and 10 points, respectively.
Damiris Dantas, who was leading all players with 21.3 points and 13.1 rebounds per game, was held to 13 points and eight boards. Brazil will face Australia for the bronze.
