A east Denver toddler who died Wednesday morning had bruises on her body, and authorities want to know what caused them, Denver police Lt. Matt Murray said Wednesday afternoon.
“When officers arrived, they saw obvious bruising to the body of the child,” he said of the 18-month-old girl. “We’re treating this as a suspicious death at this point, but we will be investigating the cause of this death along with the medical examiner’s office.”
Police were called to a unit in the Oak Park Condominium complex in the 10000 block of East Virginia Avenue just after 7 a.m., after someone reported the child wasn’t breathing.
The girl was taken to a hospital, where she died. Her name has not been released. Murray said an autopsy was planned.
