“Ski concierge” services have practically become a standard for Vail’s posh resorts and lodges, making the regulation of such services a bit of a gray area for the town of Vail.
But it’s a ski town, after all, and the Vail Town Council members agree that regulation should be approached with caution.
Town planner Rachel Dimond told the council Tuesday that the town allowed hotels to continue operating their ski concierge services through the 2010-11 ski season, but the town would need to adopt some regulations before the start of the new ski season.
“This is a ski town and it certainly doesn’t hurt to have skis in town,” Councilwoman Margaret Rogers said. “We want to be the most customer-centric ski resort in the country, and if that means having availability of skis and snowboards as close to the mountain as possible, then I’m all for it.”
