Getting your player ready...

The Rockies were 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position and, frankly, it’s getting old. “I’ve had to walk in here this year and say that a lot,” Rockies manager Jim Tracy said. He also has had to sit through more one-run losses than he would care to remember. Sunday’s loss dropped the Rockies to 16-20 in one-run decisions.

Clutch repair.

Ty Wigginton was hitting .125 (6-for-48) with two outs and runners in scoring position before his seventh-inning single drove in the tying run.

Clippard a no-show.

Wigginton’s run-scoring hit was a gift courtesy of Nats reliever Tyler Clippard. With one out, Carlos Gonzalez hit a groundball to first baseman Michael Morse, who bobbled the ball but had plenty of time to flip it to Clippard for the out. Clippard, however, never took a step toward the bag, giving the Rockies an extra out.
