Pretty Lights is fresh off a headlining set at Chicago’s Lollapalooza festival during which local police pulled the plug (for various, unconfirmed reasons). The Denver- based DJ — real name Derek Vincent Smith — has been on an upward trajectory the past two years and will continue his run with two big hometown shows this weekend. Tickets for tonight’s show at the Fillmore Auditorium and Saturday’s show at Red Rocks Amphitheatre are sold-out, but try your luck outside both venues.
Incubusis best known for its early-2000s alternative rock hits like “Wish You Were Here,” “Drive” and “Megalomaniac,” but the band got its start on the oft-forgotten rap-metal circuit years before. On Wednesday, expect to hear tasty grooves and wah-wah guitars alongside heavy distortion, screams and turntable scratches. Not for the close-minded music fan. Advance tickets are gone, but tickets are aplenty on CraigsList and StubHub.
