BOULDER — The first injury scare of Colorado’s August football camp occurred this morning when sophomore defensive end Chidera Uzo-Diribe was taken to an area hospital.

CU coach Jon Embree said Uzo-Diribe “landed kind of funny on his neck and shoulder.”

Embree added that Uzo-Diribe, who is regarded as the team’s top pass rusher, “will be fine.” Uzo-Diribe never lost consciousness and was able to move his extremities.

“I’m sure he’s going to be sore,” Embree said.

The coach said immobolizing Uzo-Diribe and taking him by ambulance was precautionary.

“You never want to take a risk on something like that,” the coach said.

CU is expected to release further information on Uzo-Diribe’s condition later today.
