A mother and her friend were charged today in the death of a 10-month-old who prosecutors say was put in a closet and covered with a blanket to muffle his crying.
Adam Gonzales was found dead in his home in the 800 block of Tennyson Street last Friday morning.
His mother, Amanda Lujan, 24, is charged with accessory to first-degree murder and accessory to child abuse resulting in death, both felonies.
The Denver District Attorney’s Office said this afternoon that Lujan lied to police to try to impede the investigation into her friend, 23-year-old Frances Garcia, who is charged with first-degree murder and child abuse resulting in death.
Garcia is being held without bond. Lujan is free on $5,000 bond.
