EAGLE, Colo.—Police in Eagle have arrested a man accused in a payroll scam that began in 2009.
Police say Rolando Guzman was being held Thursday on a $50,000 cash bond on suspicion of felony theft. Immigration and Customs Enforcement have placed a hold on him pending further investigation, and officers are trying to freeze his bank account.
Investigators say at least $100,000 had been reported stolen from a business called Superior Drywall by an employee suspected of signing and cashing checks for people who weren’t employed with the firm at the time the checks were issued.
It wasn’t immediately known if Guzman had a lawyer who could comment on his behalf.
