DENVER—A Denver mother has sued Denver officials after her son was denied medical coverage and died.
Zuton Lucero-Mills said she called Denver County Human Services numerous times in 2009 trying to get 9-year-old son Zumante’s asthma medications.
The Denver Post reports () the county verified the boy qualified for Medicaid, but pharmacists were not notified and denied his prescriptions.
State investigators later found the boy died of complications from his condition, which was covered by a state health plan that should have paid for the prescription medication he needed.
