Fun with fungi.
The Telluride Mushroom Festival, Thursday through Aug. 21, celebrates all aspects of mushrooms, from gourmet wild edibles to medicinal mushrooms grown in Telluride. The San Juan Mountains that surround the town are famous for their bounty of fungal species.
Melons get their day.
The Rocky Ford Watermelon Day, on Saturday, celebrates the world-renowned cantaloupes and watermelons produced in Rocky Ford. This day is part of the Arkansas Valley Fair, Wednesday through Aug. 21, which is the oldest continuous fair in Colorado.
A corny good time.
The Corn Roast Festival, Aug. 26-27, celebrates the humble ear in Loveland with unlimited roasted and boiled corn for sale and corn shucking, eating, and recipe contests.
Harvest time is near.
The Windsor Harvest Festival is kicking off its 90th anniversary with a hot-air balloon launch and parade. The festival, Sept. 3-5, will showcase a town barbecue, street dance, and horse-drawn carriage rides.
