ASPEN, Colo.—The Aspen-Pitkin County Airport will limit flights for all but one daily flight for six days this year to extend the runway.
From Sept. 13 through Sept. 15 and from Oct. 4 to Oct. 6, the runway will be shortened to 6,000 feet.
United Airlines, the airport’s biggest carrier, cannot fly those days because the jets the company uses cannot safely take off and land on a runway that short.
According to the Aspen Daily News ( ), Frontier Airlines flies just one trip a day and can land on the shorter runway.
