PUEBLO, Colo.—Pueblo police say a woman is suspected of stealing 24 brass vases from grave sites to make a profit.
Police arrested 20-year-old Shelby Lane Tignor Thursday after a funeral home employee recovered 17 of the vases from a metal and iron business.
Authorities say the vases were taken from Imperial Funeral Home. Police say 24 of the ornamental vases were stolen since July 29. A police officer says Tignor told investigators she stole only 17 and that she did it because she had lost her job, her apparent and that she has a heroin addiction.
The Pueblo Chieftain reports ( ) that Tignor was arrested on suspicion of theft and 24 counts of desecration of venerated objects.
