A 29-year-old Fountain man allegedly got drunk and fired shotgun blasts that struck a passing vehicle and sent his parents running outside for cover early this morning.
Michael Townsend Jones has been arrested for investigation of menacing, attempted assault in the first degree and possession of a firearm by a previous offender.
Fountain police were called to the 800 block of Candlestar Loop at 1 a.m. on a report of shots fired.
Jones had allegedly been drinking alcohol and arguing with his parents. As his parents bolted out of their house, he allegedly discharged the shotgun. No one was injured.
Shotgun pellets damaged his parents house and a passing vehicle, according to a Fountain police news release.
Police did not immediately find Jones and a large search involving 21 officers responded.
At about 2:47 a.m., police arrested Jones after he was spotted walking near his parents’ home. Authorities took possession of the shotgun.
