Getting your player ready...

They said he couldn’t do it — but maybe he did.

The finale of the ABC reality/challenge series “Expedition Impossible” is Thursday night, and Erik Weihenmayer, the Golden-based blind man who climbed Mount Everest 10 years ago, might be on the winning team.

Thirteen trios started out in June, four remain and only one will be standing after Thursday night. Two of the three-member teams will be in Boulder for a viewing party at the Lazy Dog Saloon. It’ll set you back $25, kids are $10 — proceeds go to charities supported by the two teams, No Limits and Modern Gypsies. More than 500 are expected to show up.

If Weihenmayer’s team, No Limits, wins, all three go home with $50,000 and a Ford Explorer.

I talked with Weihenmayer right after the competition that took the teams to the deserts, mountains and rivers of Morocco — and he’s not letting on if he came out on top. But let’s put it this way — he either won or came thisclose.

Says Weihenmayer Monday, “In the beginning, some of the teams said they were confident that they’d beat ‘the blind guy’ — but most of those teams have gone home by now. But I don’t get motivated for negative reasons.”

There was a lot of bonding, he says, and he credits his team for their strong finish. And if he wins, he says, and you see him driving around town in a new Ford Explorer — “Get out of the way!”

Climbing the walls

The Shoes & Brews party 4-8 p.m. Saturday at Writer Square will have movement artist Liam Gladden and his troupe dancing on the walls of 1512 Larimer St., the 10-story office building that faces the square.

Organizer Kevin Larson says Gladden will hit the wall at 7 p.m. Along with that sight will come grub from H Burger, Rio, ChoLon and the like, lotsa cocktails and some Go Fast energy drink so you don’t fall asleep. $50 tix include everything at . All proceeds for Love, Hope, Strength and Global Cancer Foundation.

Better with age

I profiled Doug and Jim Jackson from Project C.U.R.E. last Thursday in my Bar & Grilled feature — and through some misunderstanding reported that Doug Jackson was 39, when, in fact, he is 48. I talked to him Monday — he was in Mexico City delivering medical supplies. “Thanks for not making me 59,” he said.
