Daniele Callegarin, who suffered two broken hands, a concussion and facial trauma among other injuries in a brutal crash Wednesday, is alert and will return home to Italy soon.
Callegarin, of Team Type 1-sanofi Aventis, will require extensive plastic surgery, according to The Associated Press.
