Rapids: The Rapids’ 39 goals in MLS play this season have been scored by 14 players, nine of whom have scored two or more. The only other team with 14 goal scorers is Philadelphia. . . . The Rapids have scored more than one goal in eight straight games, a team record. The previous high was in 1998, when they had multiple goals in six in a row. In this run Colorado has scored 19 goals. In 1998 it scored 18 in six games.

Fire: Chicago (3-7-15) is tied with Vancouver for the fewest MLS victories this season. Before beating Toronto 2-0 last week, the Fire hadn’t won since June 12. . . . Second-year coach Carlos de los Cobos was fired after 11 games, and technical director Frank Klopas was named interim coach. . . . With its 15th tie, the Fire set an MLS single-season record for ties with nine games remaining.

Spotlight on Dominic Oduro: A native of Ghana, Oduro came to MLS in 2006 with FC Dallas and played three seasons there. He spent two more seasons with Houston before being traded right after the start of this season to Chicago, where he is the Fire’s top scorer (eight goals). He seems to have found a good partnership with Patrick Nyarko. “Not dissimilar to what we have with Omar (Cummings) and Sanna (Nyassi),” said Rapids coach Gary Smith, “lots of pace, lots of direct play and positive style.”
