A Jefferson County jury has found a man guilty of robbing an 81-year- old at a Westminster movie-theater urinal.
After two days of testimony, the jury debated briefly before finding Jeffrey Sang Knouse, 40, guilty of seven felony counts, including robbery of an at-risk adult, identity theft and criminal possession of a financial-transaction device.
In June, Knouse attacked Arthur Maes in the restroom of the AMC theaters in Westminster. Knouse knocked down Maes — who uses a cane — took his wallet and ran.
Knouse used Maes’ credit card at a McDonald’s, charging more than $20; spent more at a Diamond Shamrock gas station; and purchased two $50 gift cards at a Family Dollar store.
Family Dollar surveillance video and a Crime Stoppers tip led to his arrest.
Knouse admitted to authorities that he targeted Maes because of his cane. He will be sentenced Oct. 11 and faces up to 30 years in prison. Robbing an at-risk adult carries a mandatory minimum prison sentence of four years. The Denver Post
