The No. 15 Colorado State volleyball team swept Middle Tennessee, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24. Junior opposite hitter Dana Cranston led the Rams with 10 kills and zero errors. In the second game, Colorado State defeated McNeese State, 25-17, 25-14, 25-16, taking all three games at the Arkansas Invitational. Senior opposite hitter Katelyn Steffan was named tournament MVP.

• The Air Force volleyball team claimed its first win of the season with a 3-0 sweep of service academy rival Navy. The win, 25-17, 25-21, 25-17, is the Falcons’ first true road win since 2009. Air Force improves to 1-2.

• Northern Colorado lost to visiting UC Davis 3-2 (25-15, 26-28, 13-25, 25-21, 16-14), dropping to 2-1.

CU’s Coburn in steeplechase final.

University of Colorado junior Emma Coburn advanced to the finals of the 3,000-meter steeplechase in her first IAAF world championship Saturday in Daegu, South Korea.

Coburn finished fourth overall in the second heat to earn an automatic qualifying position for the finals, crossing the finish in 9 minutes, 38.42 seconds.

• Former Denver East standout David Oliver qualified for the semifinals of the 110-meter hurdles today.

• Janay DeLoach, a former CSU All-American, earned the final qualifying spot for the women’s long jump final, scheduled for today.
