A first-of-its-kind farm at Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield has tripled its scope in its second year, reconnecting people with their food and providing members and needy families with locally grown produce.
The Community Supporting Agriculture farm at Chatfield started last year on a single acre, producing about 10,000 pounds of produce from June through October. This year, it’s on pace to triple that output on three acres, said Manager of Horticulture Leigh Rovegno, who pioneered the farm.
It has grown from 50 paying members to 150 this year; members buy either a “peck” share for $375 or a “bushel” share for $475.
