Average retail gasoline prices in Colorado fell one cent a gallon in the past week, averaging $3.43 a gallon on Sunday, according to the website .

Prices Sunday in Colorado were 75.3 cents per gallon higher than the same day one year ago and 5.2 cents a gallon cheaper than a month ago.

The national average of a gallon of has increased 2.8 cents per gallon in the last week to $3.61 a gallon.

Patrick DeHaan, a senior petroleum analyst, said nationally the prices were up because of concern about Hurricane Irene. The concern that refinery production on the East Coast would slow because of the hurricane affected prices not only on the East Coast but other areas as well, said DeHaan.

DeHaan said it will take the East Coast refineries a few days to resume operations so with the Labor Day weekend approaching, he predicted retail prices of gasoline will probably climb.
