WASHINGTON — Virginia’s North Anna nuclear power station will get extra inspections because it may have been shaken more than it was designed to withstand during last week’s 5.8-magnitude earthquake, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission said Monday.
The NRC said it sent more inspectors to the site, which is about a dozen miles from the quake’s epicenter near Mineral, Va. The plant’s operator, Dominion Virginia, said no significant damage was found in the initial inspection.
