Denver firefighters are investigating what caused a fire at a popular greenhouse on the city’s southwest side today.

No one was injured in the fire at Dardano’s Flowerland, located at Evans Avenue and Lipan Street, said Assistant Fire Chief Greg Champlin.

Dispatchers received several calls about a fire in the greenhouse area just before noon.

When firefighters arrived, there was heavy fire on the north end of the building, along Lipan Street. Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, which was contained to the one greenhouse.

The building was not occupied at the time, and there were no plants inside, Champlin said.

“No citizens and no firefighters were hurt,” he said. “That’s a good thing.”
