AURORA, Colo.—Court records show an Aurora police SWAT officer is accused of driving drunk and police say he’s not on patrol pending the outcome of his criminal case and an internal department investigation.

The Aurora Daily Sentinel reports that ( ) 50-year-old Christopher Gonzales was arrested on Jan. 30 in Aurora on suspicion of driving under the influence and failure to stay in his lane. Colorado State Patrol Cpl. Eric Wynn told the newspaper Tuesday that it wasn’t immediately clear from patrol records what Gonzales’ blood alcohol content was when he was arrested.

Police spokeswoman Sgt. Cassidee Carlson described Gonzales as a “highly-decorated officer.”

Gonzales is due in Arapahoe County court on Oct. 4. The newspaper says his attorney did not return a call for comment.
