Alison Krauss will kick off the final handful of summer shows at Red Rocks Amphitheatre tonight. Krauss, the folk music icon who has performed with the likes of Led Zeppelin’s Robert Plant, will bring her usual backing band Union Station featuring bluegrass hero Jerry Douglas for a rootsy pick-athon. Pack a blanket (and some beer for tailgating before the show) and head up to Morrison for the last of several quintessential summer evenings on the rocks. Tickets, $34.50 through $69.50, are available through Ticketmaster.
Blink-182 was considered among some to be the seminal band of Generation Y. The trio’s pop-punk anthems dominated radio, MTV and even sects of counterculture for more than five years during the late ’90s. Seeing Blink’s now-39-year-old lead singer Mark Hoppus sing about high school romance, is, at the very least, an experience. Tickets to Sunday’s show at Comfort Dental Amphitheatre are $33.50-$85.
