A Montbello man suffered burns over most of his body tonight when the spray paint he was using in the basement of his home ignited, according to the Denver Fire Department.

What caused the paint to ignite is still under investigation, said Capt. Craig Carter.

The man met fire crews outside the home at 14661 E. 43rd Ave. and was conscious when he was rushed to the burn unit at University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Carter said.

The man was not named and his condition was not available this evening.

The blast of the fireball separated one wall from the home, but there were no flames remaining inside when crews went insided.
