Today through Monday. The 13th annual Boulder Creek Hometown Fair unfolds on the Boulder Municipal Building lawn and Central Park lawn along Boulder Creek. Among the attractions: Live music, an interactive Sports & Kids Expo, the 2nd Annual Family Fun & Fitness 5K, food court and beer garden, the Chili Inferno Cook-Off, a Classic Car Show and an entire children’s area with carnival rides and exhibitors. Wildlife enthusiasts can gear up for elk-rutting season, the annual outdoor mating ritual, when naturalists from the Lookout Mountain Nature Center speak during the free public presentation “Elk: In the Rut.” Attendees can listen to bugle recordings, examine pelts, skulls and hooves, and get insider tips on where to witness this seasonal behavior. 1 p.m. at Elk Meadow Park, 2855 Bergen Peak Drive, Evergreen.
