The lean coffers of counties and municipalities in major oil- and gas-generating Colorado counties are getting a welcome infusion of severance taxes and mineral leases.
The fiscal 2011 severance taxes for Weld County and Greeley are double the amounts in 2010, and mineral lease payments likewise spiked compared with last year’s levels.
School districts also are enjoying the ramped-up energy production in the state.
