RIFLE — Elementary students will have classes at different schools while officials investigate the cause of a suspicious odor that hospitalized 22 students and a teacher at their school.

Garfield County school district officials said that inspections so far have found no elevated levels of carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide or natural gas at Graham Mesa Elementary in Rifle. Officials said that after the Labor Day holiday, students won’t have classes Tuesday, and starting Wednesday they will be attending two other schools while the investigation continues.

The suspicious odor was reported to the Rifle Fire Protection District on Thursday morning.
